Total defence involves the whole of society, including students and higher education institutions. However, it is not always clear how students can and should contribute. How can students support total defence, and what can we learn from our Nordic and Baltic neighbours?

This seminar explores the role of students in total defence, with a particular focus on how student unions contribute to strengthening democratic values. To provide an international perspective and opportunities for learning, we invite representatives from Nordic and Baltic student organisations to share how they work with these issues. The discussion will address questions such as: How do students view their role in total defence? How do student unions work with these issues, and what do they contribute? Is there greater awareness among students in the Nordic and Baltic countries than in Sweden? What similarities and differences can we identify? What can we learn from one another? The discussion will be held in English.
