Sweden’s total defence rests on two pillars: military and civil defence. Within the latter, the private sector plays a decisive role, covering everything from supply chains and cybersecurity to energy supply and transportation infrastructure. At the same time, companies are increasingly targeted by influence operations, cyberattacks, and disruptions to supply chains. In an era where self-sufficiency and resilience are more important than ever, questions arise about how businesses can protect themselves against hybrid threats, what conditions are necessary to maintain critical infrastructure in times of crisis, and how the private sector can collaborate with government authorities to strengthen Swedish total defence. What are the biggest challenges for Swedish companies in the event of a conflict? How can private actors contribute to greater preparedness and resilience? And how should the government and private sector work together to create a sustainable and long-term total defence?
